In today’s competitive world, getting into IT is easy, lot of opportunities are lined up for you when compared to other industry verticals. Wherever you go, whatever you do, what makes difference is ATTITUDE. Because of it, some may get more opportunities, some may lose job even after joining. In this article, I’m mentioning some of the points about our must-have attitude when you join any startup.

Being POSITIVE can add up more VALUE to what you do

When it comes to work routine – you face different kind of people, either client or team everyday. But you must accept the fact that not everyone will be nice to you. Some may be rude, even may be the hardest person you met in entire life. How to handle them ? With positive attitude and patience. You don’t need to get distracted from their talks. Don’t worry about the ” how they said “, worry about ” what they said and why they said “. When it comes to service industry, admit the fact that clients are the kings. Some things will be taken for granted by them. But always keep the attitude that ” I do my best for delivering quality service / solution “.

LEARN, UNLEARN everyday

What happens if car painter don’t sharpen their axe after using it a certain time ? What happens if you don’t update the apps in your mobile time to time. Likewise, what happens if we don’t update our skills ? We still travel in the patched road when the world is moving in a highway. we have to get updated to latest skills, technologies, tools, resources. Now, we are in an open world. Everything can be found online. Only thing we need is interest to learn. Then what to unlearn ? Bad practices which make you unproductive, confusing and irritating.

Biggest EGO is ” I can’t do it “

I often see lot of people saying “why I have to do this ? I joined for another role / I can’t do this because I don’t know this / I don’t do such small things.” Why I called these as EGO ? In my perspective, contributing to a company is something which all should do irrespective of role, intensity and impact. If you joined for a particular role, there is nothing harm in doing other things also. You’ll learn new things. When you don’t how to do, don’t say ” I can’t do it “. Instead, try exploring, find out a way, do something and present. Always approach the seniors when you are stuck at something and not finding solution, consider your seniors are the solution. Don’t hesitate to communicate with seniors. Nobody is perfect and the word mistake is not removed from anybody’s dictionary out there. So my whole narrative is that TRYING is important than GIVING UP before starting. And remember that contribution means it is not only limited to big things. Even you can do small things in great way. In my view, the willingness to do small things itself is a biggest contribution to the organization.

Take care of your work. It takes care of the REST

Instead of expecting what company gives you, think about what best you can do to make the company and your work better. There is no end for your work and you can’t feel like you have done everything and nothing left to do. Come out of the mindset that company needs me more than I need it. Take care of the work, don’t care about the titles, salary and benefits. As I said If you take care of your work, it takes care of the REST.
